December is almost upon us, so what better way to prepare than with the top links from across the NESCAC?

Here we go:

Other than Hamilton’s win over Skidmore, the rest of the NESCAC struggled this past weekend in men’s hockey, writes Tim Costello of USCHO.com in his ECAC East/NESCAC wrap.
The latest D3Hoops.com top 25 polls are out. Amherst women remained No. 1, Bowdoin women moved up from 14th to 10th and Colby women inched up from 16th to 15th. On the men’s side, Middlebury is now No. 2 (up from No. 5) and Amherst is now No. 3 (up from No. 4). Williams dropped from 3rd to 7th.
The Conn. College men’s basketball team’s Hoops for Hunger Drive is continuing.
A former All-NESCAC player whose professional aspirations were derailed by a last-minute injury, 2003 Colby grad Bianca Belcher stumbled into the health care field, writes the Colby Magazine.
After a slow start, Tufts women’s basketball got back on the winning track with a rout against Brandeis, writes Alex Baudoin of the Tufts Daily.

It’s almost Thanksgiving, which means that we at NESCAC Insider are truly thankful for many things, not the least of which is another batch of the top links throughout the conference.

New Amherst lacrosse coach Jon Thompson is quickly realizing that working for the Lord Jeffs means he holds a higher position of power, not just against the NESCAC but against other Div. III colleges in the country, writes Jac Coyne of Lax Magazine.

No butterflies for Colby coach Julie Veilleux in her debut with the Mules, writes Matt DiFilippo of the Kennebec Journal.

Nationally-ranked Colby looked strong in a 80-37 win over Maine-Farmington, writes Kalle Oakes of the Sun Journal.

Soccer star Ellery Gould caught fire for the Bowdoin women’s basketball team as the Polar Bears rolled to a 69-53 win over UNE at Morrell Gym, writes Greg Reid of the Press Herald.

NCAA finals abound and winter sports are aplenty, so let’s get it started with another edition of Linking Around the NESCAC.

Here we go:

Bowdoin field hockey’s first loss of the season came at a pretty bad time, as Middlebury advanced to the NCAA finals with a 3-0 rout, writes Jorge Bannister of the Maine Sunday Telegram.
Williams, on the other hand, dealt Emory its first loss of the season with a 1-0 victory in 2 OTs to advance to the 2011 NCAA women’s soccer championship game.
Bowdoin battled to a season-opening 3-3 tie versus Williams in a rematch of the 2010-11 final. Chris Roy of the Maine Hockey Journal has that and all the other news in his NESCAC roundup.
New Colby head coach Julie Veilleux won her debut with the Mules in a 79-57 decision over Clark on Saturday in the Brandeis Tournament.
Amherst has some pretty awesome black-and-white pictures from the Lord Jeffs’ 2-0 win over Hamilton in men’s ice hockey on Friday.
Williams’ Chiara Del Piccolo took individual honors at the NCAA XC championships, becoming the first NESCAC individual runner to win since 1995. UW Oshkosh has a set of nice photos here.
