Video | Consent vigilantes at Winter Bash

by Katja Torres on February 5, 2013

On Friday night, while most Tufts students were partying at Winter Bash or other festivities, a few members and supporters of the Consent Culture Network performed a direct action to combat rape culture at Tufts.

They spray-painted their own shirts with slogans of consent and rewrote the lyrics of a few popular songs in order to spread their message. Apart from demonstrating outside the Winter Bash-bound buses, they also handed out condoms attached to small fliers that contained information about consent to the Winter Bash-goers.

A few passersby uttered supportive and thankful remarks, some even joining in on the singing, chanting and dancing. Later in the night, the “Consent Vigilantes” made their way to Westin Copley Place Boston Hotel to distribute advice and condoms.
